PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION
The Skinbase™ IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair reduction treatment is an excellent alternative to conventional methods of dealing with unwanted hair. It works by targeting and destroying the hair whilst it is in the follicle. The melanin in the hair absorbs the emitted light, which is then transferred into heat energy. Providing there is an adequate amount of melanin, the absorbed heat disables the hair follicle so it can no longer produce another hair. To achieve permanent hair reduction using any method, the hair has to be in its growing stage. Approximately 30% of hairs are in this stage at one time so a course of treatments is required. We would typically recommend 6 - 10 sessions per area for best results however this varies from client to client. If there are underlying factors affecting the hair growth, such as hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovary syndrome etc, more sessions may be required. This will be discussed with you at your initial consultation.

VASCULAR TREATMENTS
The Skinbase IPL system can be used to successfully treat superficial thread veins, Campbell de morgan spots, Cherry anginomas and Rosacea. Using specialised filters, the pulse of light is targeted at the unwanted vein / lesion. As the light is absorbed, it is converted to heat and this coagulates the blood in the vessel. Vessels may darken initally and/or disappear either immediately or over the next few days as the body naturally removes the affected vessel. We do a series of patch tests to achieve the correct setting on the machine and once this is achieved, generally only 1-3 sessions is required, performed at 2 - 3 week intervals. This treatment is a very quick method of dealing with unwanted vascular lesions, with minimal risk to the surrounding skin.

SKIN REJUVENATION
The Skinbase IPL system can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots and brown pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.
Broken blood vessels, improving general skin condition and giving a more even, toned appearance with minimal ‘downtime’ after each treatment.
The main goals of this treatment are to boost the skin’s ability to produce more collagen naturally and breakdown areas of unwanted pigmentation. This is achieved by targeting the excess melanin in the skin, the light penetrates the skin causing the pigmentation to shatter and break down. It will appear slightly darker initially and then the body will naturally expel the affected melanin leaving the skin looking smoother and more even toned.
We recommend 4 - 6 treatments, approximately 2 - 3 weeks apart. Although pigmentation improves quite quickly, clients should be aware that it may take up to 3 months from the last treatment to see full results as this is the time the body takes to produce new collagen within the skin.

ACNE TREATMENTS
The Skinbase IPL system is one of the safest acne treatments available, having FDA clearance for use on inflammatory acne. Using specialised filters, the yellow and green light emitted from the device destroys the P. Acnes bacteria that lives on the skin which causes the inflammation, spots, pustules etc. The red light emitted targets the overactive sebaceous glands, the heat created within the gland causes them to shrink and helps prevent the over - production of excess sebum. Too much sebum within the skin can be a common cause of the blemishes and blockages associated with acne. The overall look of the skin can be improved because the light will naturally boost collagen levels in the skin, leading to better healing, improved texture and a reduction in scarring. During the treatment, the skin is cooled first and then the handset is hovered over the skin to emit the light. We recommend a course of 3 - 4 treatments, approximately 2 - 3 weeks apart.
